Detailed Itinerary
Arrive at Trivandrum and head towards Kovalam Beach- the most beautiful beach town in South India. Enjoy some water sports like surfing, swimming, and boating. Spend the day by yourself, exploring the beach.
Drive to Trivandrum and start the trip with a visit to Shree Padmanabha Swami Temple, Napier Museum, Chitralayam Art Gallery, Zoological Gardens, Reptile House Observatory and Kanakakannu Palace. After lunch head towards Kanya Kumari to see the stunning Padmanabhapuram palace. Experiencethe simultaneous sun set &moon rise over the ocean. Return to Kovalam in the evening.
Head to Quilon- the gateway of Kerala backwaters. Stay at a backwater resort on the bank of Ashtamudi Lake. Start your trip with a visit to one of the oldest ports of the Malabar Coast that was once the centre of international spice trade. Look at the historic remains of the monuments and temples built in ornate style. You could also visit the village to understand the local life style and culture. Stay overnight at Quilon.
Drive to Alleppeyand stay on ahouseboat. Enjoy a leisurely day cruising through the beautiful villages and lush paddy fields. Sample some exquisite sea food freshly made on the houseboat. Overnight at Houseboat.
Disembark the boat at Kumarakom and check into the backwater resort. Visit the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary and spend the rest of the day relaxing at the waterfront, with a ride on the native row boat at sunset.
Head to Periyar- one of the most fascinating wildlife sanctuaries in India, famous for elephants, spice plantations and scenic beauty. A boat ride on the splendid Periyar Lake is the ideal way to experience the sanctuary. Try to spot Elephants, Wild Boars, Sambar, Wild Dogs, Langur Monkeys, Bison, Red fox. Later visit spice plantations.
Head to Vandenmedu and experience sprawling tea, rubber and eucalyptus plantations alongside natural grasslands and pine forests. Take a trip to Cardamom plantation and Tea factory at Kailasam. Overnight at hotel.
Head to Munnar- a nature lover’s paradise. Relish the winding lanes, gushing waterfalls, high mountains with the low flying clouds that make Munnar a popular hill station.
Drive to Kochi- the commercial capital of Kerala. This natural harbour was created by the famed underwater Malabar mud-banks. Visit the Jewish synagogue, Portuguese churches, mosques and Hindu temples. Also, watch the Chinese Fishing Nets, a spectacular sight.Enjoy a traditional Kathakali Dance Show in the evening.
Drive to Calicut towards Kappad beach, 20 Kms away from Calicut, where Vasco-da-Gama set foot in 1498 A.D.
Enjoy a day excursion to Pookot Lake- a natural fresh water lake surrounded by meadows and trees on all sides. It is a paradise for peace-loving travelers.
Drive to Wayanad- a beautiful hill station in Kerala.This serene hill town is home to several tribal sects, who have built some shrines for the village deities. Visit Edakkal Caves that have several paintings and pictorial writings of the New Stone Age Civilization. Also go to the Muthunga wildlife sanctuary where herds of elephants, bear, deer, wild pig etc can be seen. You could also go to the Glass temple, a famous Jain family temple.
Vythri is world famous for its coffee, tea, cardamom, pepper and rubber plantations. You can relish at the mist capped mountains and spectacular scenery that dominate this tourist destination.
Head to Calicut Airport for departure.
